Differentiating Instruction for Students with Additional Learning Needs – Including Gifted Students
Teachers are challenged by the increasingly diversified classroom. In any given classroom, there are students with widely differing skills, abilities, experiences and interests. This workshop is designed to provide participants with an understanding of what it is like to have a disability, to explore differentiation frameworks and to provide numerous practical strategies teachers can use in their classrooms. More specifically, the workshop will explore:
- Legislation and rights and responsibilities
- Understanding of disabilities (language disorders, attention disorders, autism)
- Understanding giftedness
- Differentiation frameworks
- Practical application and resources
The workshop is suitable for mainstream and special education teachers and support staff at primary and secondary levels.
